Preparing For Winter

As the cool fall air sets in, and the weather shifts from sunny and 75, to wet and slushy, it’s increasingly important our vehicles are in top shape. Here at The Pit, we are continually striving to keep our customers safe, wherever the journey may take you.

Here are some of the top things you should check to be ready for winter season.

  1. Tires! Are my tires street tires, and should I get winter tires? If you have All season tires, what kind of shape are they in? Should you replace them in order to maintain traction and control? Come in today and we can answer any of those questions, and help you get some new ones if needed. We want to keep you and your family on the road this winter season.
  2. Tire Pressure! It is very common as the temperatures begin to shift, that your tire pressure will as well. It doesn’t necessarily mean your tire needs repair, it just means it needs the pressure checked. This can be done by us, or on your own. The important thing to know when filling your tire pressure, is to not over do it. This can cause wear on your tires, or possibly harm to you. Check the white and yellow sticker placed on the inside door panel of the drivers side door. There you can find the correct tire pressure for your vehicle. REMEMBER: The pressure stated on the sidewall of a tire is MAX pressure and not recommended pressure.

3. Windshield wipers! Nothing is worse than being caught in a storm with old wiper blades, or no winter windshield washer fluid. These small tasks might seem unimportant but could save you in a time of need. We carry all sizes of windshield wipers and also fill your windshield washer fluid up with every oil change!

4. Battery! Don’t get stranded with a weak or bad battery. The cold is harder on batteries than most things. Did you know we will check your battery for FREE? We can tell you if it’s on its way out, or if you need a replacement immediately. We are partners with Interstate batteries and can fix you up with a battery really quick.

In review, there are many preventative things you can do to stay safe this winter. Let us help you keep the ones you love on the road this holiday season!
